Tessera makes small glass objects for the home. Each one is a hand-set grid of thirty-six bevelled glass tiles, locked into bright white epoxy grout and named after a moment in art, design or memory.

A few people ask if these are dishwasher safe. No, but the grout is epoxy. It’s the same waterproof stuff that goes in showers and pools, so a scrub under the tap won’t hurt it.
Inside, out of the sun, the same glass goes quiet and moody. Move it near a window and it’s a different piece again.
The favourites
I’m Rose Rye. I make every piece by hand in my garden studio in Thornbury, one tile at a time. It started with one coaster, made because I wanted one. A lot of trial and error with epoxy grout followed. I’ve made a lot more since, though I’m still not sure I’ve got it perfect.
